So, I’ve been using my Fairphone 3 since they came out. I’m on my second battery now and have been following the updates.
Recently, performance has been starting to get terrible, especially just after reboots, or when I’ve plugging in/removed the power lead, or changing from battery saving mode etc.
Basically the whole device was getting mega sluggish and apps would start getting “this app is not responding” popup, which kept coming back even though the app was responding fine.
I was also getting that pop up for a number of core Android functions, most importantly Quickstep.
After getting really fed up of it because i don’t want to replace it, I googled what Quickstep actually was and realised it was the launcher program. Ages ago on my old original fairphone I had bought a copy of the Nova launcher which I still had in my Google play account, so I swapped over.
OMG. All my problems have gone! It’s like a brand new phone! NO issues at all since!
Caveat, the other thing I did while getting annoyed was removed all the permissions from the Android System Intelligence application. Not sure if that would have impacting the performance this dramatically though!
If you’re getting bad slow downs, try replacing the launcher!
