Mobile data roaming only supposedly works

My phone shows that I’ve got LTE roaming (I’m currently abroad but still in the EU). However my apps can’t access the internet, do you have any ideas (it’s already the second mobile data provider, the first one

also didn’t work)?

One of the reasons might be your network providers - please double check with them whether you need to activate roaming in anyway or set the APN settings manually. Please double check your APN settings.

As a (temporary) solution, you might try to get a local SIMcard and check whether this could be working.

Thanks but I had already tried all those tips but nothing worked.

It turned out to that I had to manually allow internet access for the apps on roaming in the app “NetGuard” (an app that manages your internet access).

That also explains why the status bar displayed that I had an internet connection (the apps where just forbidden to use it).

Maybe that should be included in the troubleshooting guide?

Not sure, as this app is pretty specific.
I guess you could add some comment on VPN (I need to check if it’s there).

I use NetGuard on my ereader and it sometimes requires extra tweaking that’s true but I would say it’s up to the user to install it and set it to their liking.
