Microphone noise cancellation issues FP5 FP6

Hi All! Long time Fairphone user & investor here. Amazing philosophy, super company, great products.

However, in my opinion, all with one major design flaw: bad (speaker and) microphone quality. And that should be the one thing most important for a phone. IMHO.

Anyway, as discussed here Noise cancelling cuts out my kids voices in video calls on new Fairphone 5 I have to ask grandma and grandpa to call back on my girlfriends iPhone if they would like to hear my kids voices during (video) calls.

Do others still experience the same thing? And does anyone know if this is finally fixed on the FP gen 6? I am currently using FP5.

-Apparently some other Android phones allow the user to switch the noise cancellation ('clear calling’) off. For all I know, Fairphone does not.-

Would love to hear from you!

Regards.

Just to give an update. No response from Fairphone (yet?), but in the mean time I figured out this is a widespread Android issue. Some phones/brands have this issue, others don’t. Best are those were you can disable the noise cancellation (‘clear calling’). Apple doesn’t have this problem at all (better algorithm?).

Got my hands on a FP6 this week, hoping this would be fixed with the new model. Unfortunately it isn’t. Seriously considering buying another phone now. :frowning:

Did you try Zoom? There’s an audio setting without NC mostly designed for musicians.

Thx. Will double check.
