Metal mesh loose from earbuds for the second time. Anyone else with this issue?

Hello!

Long story short. Has anyone else had this issue? I have already sent in my fairbuds for repair once, because of this issue happening. And not it has happened again, with the pair I got back:

In the pic, one mesh is loose but I managed to put it back in place for the moment. The other is missing.

Longer story:
I bought the fairbuds at release in April. In June, the mesh that covers speaker part of the buds came apart, while I was changing the eairtips. I sent a message to the support team to ask if I could fix this myself. The response was that I should send them in for repair.
In October, due to a shipping error causing a delay, I finally got fairbuds back in the mail. It looked like the buds I got were new ones.

Now, I have noticed that the mesh filter has come apart again. One mesh cover had already disappeared when I noticed it.

I feel a bit crazy for not reading about anyone else with this issue. That I maybe have done something wrong with them, like washing them in the wrong way. The first pair I think I cleaned quickly with a little bit of running water a few times.

The second pair I hadnt gotten around to clean yet. I have dropped them on the floor a few times, due to them not always sticking in my ear. But I would hope that earbuds were designed to handle that. They have no visible damage otherwise. So… has anyone else had this issue, or thoughts if its a “me” or problem or something wrong with the buds?

Because the support time including shipping was quite long, Im wondering if it would be better to contact the shop I bought this from in Norway instead this time.

i think this is something everyone should completely avoid (never do this). Actually I am surprised that this did not void the warranty as both earbuds and the battery case have water ingress detectors.

Yes, you are right. It doesnt explain why it has happened twice, though.

The buds I got back after the first repair was in a different casing (the plastic casing was transparent instead of previously solid black), and the packaging was new. So I assume they were brand new.

Regarding losing the mesh, I can only think of such reports (e.g. a German language topic here) with regard to Fairphone’s previous TWS earbuds (not the Fairbuds). My own Fairphone TWS earbuds have lost both mesh parts a long time ago, and while others found fitting mesh online, I have just done without the mesh for 2-3 years now and have not noticed any issue with functionality so far. (Note the TWS earbuds had round mesh unlike the Fairbuds’ elliptical shape mesh.)

Are you not afraid of ear wax getting stuck inside the buds you have?

The earbuds do function perfectly otherwise. So perhaps I could find a mesh shape online that would fit mine.

I was concerned about this back then, yes. However, after such a long time of really frequent use, I still (literally) don’t see any signs of it, and I don’t notice any loss of functionality either. Well, the left earbud’s battery keeps running low on energy always before the right earbud now, but I doubt it is related.
