I’m looking for a manual or an instructions page for the original 2021-2023 “Fairphone True Wireless Stereo Earbuds”, because I don’t remember anymore all the various taps and secret handshakes needed to pilot them.
I’ve searched the website, but didn’t find anything useful in the Support section, besides a link to a non-existing page…
Is there anywhere a manual or instructions page which has survived?
I had a problem with my TWS earbuds a few months ago and I asked support for help and they told me this product is end-of-life and they don’t provide support for it. When I told them that wasn’t really in the spirit of what I believe Fairphone stands for they didn’t seem bothered. When I asked them to at least put the support pages back online they said they would look into it, but nothing has happened - and I’m not surprised. Support is provided by a separate company, B2X, who I have experience with from the past when I had a Nokia Windows phone which needed support after Microsoft bought Nokia Mobile then asset-stripped it. B2X’ approach is to actually provide as little support as possible and if something is out of scope of their contract then they are not interested, and they do not provide any way to give feedback or requests to the manufacturer either, e.g. Nokia or Fairphone.
So, sadly, it seems we can’t rely on Fairphone to support old products at all, even to keep the webpages live - be prepared for this to happen to other products.
thank you for raising a valid point, the website has been changing quite a lot recently and personally I find it harder to find information (plus some pages are no longer active).
yet, in terms of future I kinda want to disagree, Fairphone 3 which is no longer supported is still listed on the repair page, and on resources site you can find information even about Fairphone 2.
As far as I recall TWS earbuds were designed by a different company which might have made the matters more complicated
The Fairphone True Wireless Stereo earbuds were not designed by us. We worked with an off-the-shelf design to start our adventure in this field.
That’s unfortunately the standard procedure for about every support company I’ve had to interact with in the last 20 years: Time is money, so they make sure they don’t waste it if they aren’t legally/contractually bound to.
TL;DR, don’t even try: If you haven’t paid for some special support agreement there is no support for out-of-support items, anywhere.
While I see your point, and agree about providing technical support, there was no obvious economic or legal reason for Fairphone to remove that TWS page Ingo found for me. It’s after all just a short user manual, still useful if after several years you don’t remember how to unpair/repair them, and your own paper manual is somewhere in a box out of reach…
All electronics manufacturers have in their support pages a “Discontinued products” link, where they still offer manuals and any last drivers/firmwares. It’s a common courtesy to their clients.
