You may want to consider a repair as the modules are hard to come by.

FP2 Bottom Module: Repair broken µUSB port and or mic

@JohnHughes (thanks again) send me two broken bottom Modules some days ago. This one has a defekt µUSB port. After disassembling I took a picture with a microscope camera and found some solder cracks. Barely to see without magnification. Two cracks at the shield contacts that I am not too worry about, but also one at contact 5. I am sure that was a slack joint. Some serious force must be acted to the Port. I will try to resolder the joints and hope the bottom module will be able to do its work…

Howto repair the microphone inside the bottom module

As fairphone angel (in Berlin) I have a lot of support cases with nonfunctional microphones in the bottom modul. A lot of users have minimum the 2nd, often the 3rd bottom module. Mostly easily changed by Fairphone support in warranty. But there is a lot of waste (I collect old faulty modules and send them back for recycling). So my questions: Did anyone successfully repaired the microphone inside the bottom module by soldering a new smd microphone? What’s the reason for the highly rate of f…

Hello, like so many others, I’m experiencing microphone issues with my Fairphone 2. FP no longer supplies replacement modules - much to my surprise, considering its mission - so I’d appreciate receiving any suggestions. Thanks

I find myself in the same situation. I really think that Fairphone the company should produce again FP2 modules. It’s ok not to produce whole phones when there are 2-3 newer models but… we need modules to be able to repair our current phones. What about the repairability promise? It’s empty if they don’t provide even 2d hand modules

I really would be happy to use my FP2 for a couple of years more if only I didn’t have to use the headphone’s mic to talk

For me it’s also too hard to solder such a tiny microphone. I live in Barcelona, btw.
