I have some troubleshooting enabling the Linux terminal in the FP6. It said Have anyone any idea?
I cannot also upload any image in the forum since appeared a message ‘ Unable to proceed with the process due to low memory’ ??? ( I have totally empty the phone storage haha)
As far as I know, the built-in Android terminal is available from Android 16 and as of now, the FP6 is running Android 15 (though we are expecting 16 soon). Furthermore, the built-in terminal requires virtualization support from the SoC (processor) and that is not available on the Snapdragon 7s gen 3 used by the FP6.
You can use apps like Termux to achieve a similar result.
I see, I enabled the Linux terminal in developer settings in the FP6 getting an output result of a app icon in the main screen device. I did not know we were not able to set a default terminal without using termux which has some limitations indeed. Thanks for the info @kwasow !
But then, why e/OS and Murena provide with this kind of non-solution tools? It seems to me since I get the FP6 that e/OS has several inconsistencies…
I think there is some more discussion about this topic in the /e/OS forum, but it provides little additional context. I think their conclusion is the same.
As long as the device is not rooted, you end up being limited regarding folder access and user rights.
It is a text based terminal, while Googles Terminal is an over the top, over engineered virtual Linux inside Linux (your Android) with graphical output.
