Lineage 17.1 - FP2

@chrmhoffmann
Which change for the FP2 on the lineage website is the new kernel?

This page: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/FP2/upgrade, but there are no mention of the new Root magic and, more about OpenGapps upgrade (how to check/use).

How to decrypt your phone (with use in Twrp). This one I had trouble, so I decided to Wipe my data.

And maybe, as extra, how to back-up your phone, before upgrade (tips/link to other page)ā€¦
But it work now (and its better!). These tips can be used, but its good enough for most people.
Finally, I used the Installation guide (and my remembering from the first time installation of LOS 16).

You do not need encryption support for twrp to install/upgrade lineage or gapps.

The alarm clock is buggy:
the set alarm tone is not played again, but always a different one (donā€™t even find it in the list)
As soon as the snooze function is switched on (regardless of the duration of the snooze time), you will no longer hear the alarm clock.

Edit:
sorry, I do not mean the snooze function, but the ā€œincreasing volumeā€.

Hi, I was successful with the update from Lineage 16 to 17.1. (200405). Very happy! Only encryption I still wasnā€™t able to perform. Where do I have to search?

Just did my upgrade to LOS17.1 over TWRP and it was quite nervous counting the ā€œblobsā€ on the lineage splash screen when rebootā€¦ But success, it went really smooth. Thank you so much for all hours put in to this upgrade!!! And Swedish banking app BankID still works, so happy!!

Reporting after some days of usage: battery usage has very much increased, did anyone observe the same? I was on LOS16.1 before which was fine but now I even lose 30 percentage points of battery over night without any interaction. Thatā€™s insane! :exploding_head:

Quite the opposite here. Under LOS16.1 my battery lasted around 6 days and now (17.1) around 10 days.

Maybe you WiFi is always on due to ā€œlocalization with WiFiā€? I always uncheck it but it comes back once in a while after updatesā€¦

Are you using your phone at all? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: My best was 4 days with Lineage 16, without bluetooth or WiFi. A few phone calls and a little 4G though. Maybe you have excellent signal where you live, I know it can make a big differenceā€¦

Yes, I do - but in a minimalist way. When my phone is in a location with weak mobile signal levels (remote areas on vacation) itā€™s 2-3 days maximum.

Anyone having issues with trebuchet launcher?
Mine crashes every time I press home-button(using pixel instead atm)ā€¦

Came from 16 and did a factory reset and installed lineage 17.1 + openGapps 10 (micro).

Iā€™ve tried wiping cache and force quit etc. But to no avail. And did not find anything when I searched for issuesā€¦

Otherwise everything seems to work!
Thanks!

I found it by searching for ā€œchargeā€ (german: ā€œladeā€):

But the charging sound appears not to be fully implemented yet. In these settings only the switch has an effect. If it is on, there is always the same sound on connecting and the phone vibrates, no matter what sound is set and whether vibration is set to on or off. And there happens nothing on disconnecting.

But this is just a little bug I have found yet after the upgrade to FOS17.1 I have done today (lineage-17.1-20200413). All other seem to work well.
So thank you very much to all who are working on Lineage, especially on Lineage for FP2! You have done a great work!

Same here indeed.
First tried ā€˜normalā€™ upgrade, but got Trebuchet crashes all the time.
After factory reset still the same.
Using Microsoft Launcher now.

I installed this agenda and it works really well, I like the month view with event names written
Easy to synchronise with CardDAV with DAVx5ā€¦
Way better than the stock calendar in LOS 16!

Can someone who has trebuchet crashes please post logcat?

Chris

Iā€™m still missing the new kernel @chrmhoffmann pushed to the official FP2 branches? It is nowhere to be found here: https://download.lineageos.org/FP2/changes

I placed a log here:

what kind of changes does the new kernal make?

The build date for the kernel is the same date LOS has. But maybe it dosenā€™t mean anything. The only new change i can see he made is the one that the phone stores the time and dosenā€™t need an NTP connection to get the right time without any user input.
