I don’t like that they do so many usability related blog posts lately. These topics should go into support articles and so the blog posts are just bloated support articles (they have some experience in bloating… ).
As a FP1 user I’m not interested in how I can backup a FP2…
After leaving the mine, the tungsten concentrate travels to Wolfram Bergbau’s refining facilities in Austria. Here a mass balance model is applied, similar to the supply chain of tin and tantalum. For example, about 50% of the tungsten input comes from recycled sources (learn more about the mass balance model ).
(bold by me)
Does this refer to the whole tungsten that is processed in the refining facilities, or to the mass balanced amount of tungsten that is used for the Fairphon…

For completeness’ sake:
We’ve got some happy news for Fairphone 1 owners: A full upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat is on its way! It’s been quite the journey to get this far, but thanks to the persistence of our software team, we’re almost there. Read the latest news and...

If you feel adventurous and know what the risks are, you can apply to participate in the alpha (and later beta) testing here:
https://forum.fairphone.com/t/call-for-testers-of-android-4-4alpha-for-fairphone-1/19411?u=johannes
And finally, some clarifications for FP1 first edition owners:
I notice, in the email I received, that A4.4 is announced for the FP1U, which is the second batch of FP1 phones, if I get it right.
I was among the first 5000 backers, so I suppose my FP1 is just that: FP1, not FP1U. Is that right?
If so, and provided that I do unify the storage (still not done on my phone), will I still be able to upgrade to Android 4.4?

I just stumbled over the images of the new slim back cover in the Fairphone shop
Looks very nice to me!
Has anyone already seen those in real? Are they offering the same protection as the original one?
Any ideas when they will be available? At the moment it is only possible to pre-order it with a new phone …
Greetings, Alex
