I’ve been getting this really badly, just for the last few months. FP4, Android 15. Literally like 2-3 seconds sometimes for the native Gboard app to come up. I can get rid of it with another keyboard app, but I find them much worse. I did try taking away updates, but it didn’t really help.
That’s interesting, this is the first time I have heard anyone reporting this with the FP4, it was always 3 or 3+. Any changes since your post?
I still have this as an ongoing issue. If I clear the cache of GBoard, it fixes it for a day or two. I have tried other keyboards and found none I like.
i don’t have certainty, but it might be related to the ongoing issue of the RAM handling. It looks like that one started before you had this other issue.
I commented on one of the (sub) issues related to that same topic that my GF FP4 also started suffering of the issue of the keyboard (GBoard lagging to slide up) after upgrading the OS (13 → 15).
For curiosity, what keyboards did you try that fixed your problem? we tried with HeliBoard but she got the same degraded experience almost immediately (the day after).
I also have the same issue with GBoard on FP4 with Android 15. I have been attributing it to the issue of the phone aggressively killing apps.
