I’ve always found my FP 5 pretty stable… untill recently. I use Nova launcher a d Tesco mobile network in the UK but recently I’ve developed some new issues:
-Phone glitching out when swiping up to return to the home screen.
-Issues when switching between open applications it scrolls to the far left and I can’t move between open app windows.
Anyone else finding this? Is this an Android 14 thing? Can’t figure out what is causing these issues when they haven’t existed until now…
I think it is understandable that the phone will get buggier as it gets older. What I mean is new updates, especially major Android ones will be taking their toll, and the last one (Android 18?) might not fit the phone so well as the one that it was born with (metaphorically speaking). Not to mention, the new Android versions might not be out of definition less buggy, but to the contrary, might include more glitches.
Plus the phone itself is getting older which might impact its behaviour. Lastly, when we use it we keep putting more stuff on it, that’s why a clean reset is being recommended from time to time.
But no, my FP5 is not getting buggy. It is very snappy. Yet, I had not the best experience with Nova launcher (even though it is pretty), and decided against it as it seemed to be draining my phone powers.
Hi! The issues you’re describing sounds like something the community already figured out. You need to turn off desktop mode in the settings.
For whatever reason, if you use desktop mode, it messes up the app switcher.
Turn it off, then reboot your phone.
Fingers crossed Fairphone will fix it soon.
Otherwise, I don’t think the phone is getting more buggier. However, it has had bugs since launch, that haven’t been addressed yet. And you might be slowly bumping into one here and there.
No signs of increasing bugginess here. Phone is a year old but perfectly snappy as Day 1. I usually dismiss apps when I don’t expect to need them again shortly. Standard launcher and 3-button nav.
