Mooi artikel.
According to the website of the Dutch consumer organization âde Consumentenbondâ, iPhones are more sustainable than Fairphone.
I discovered this when investigating the test of 312 smartphones on their website. The details of the test are only accessible to members, but I made a detailed analysis of it on my blog: Consumentenbond test duurzaamheid smartphones: Apple iPhone is duurzamer dan Fairphone!
Is there something comparable by other consumer organizations?
I assume youâre the author of the article since the last paragraph mentions this forum. Itâs best to contactsupport, this is just a user community forum.
You indeed bring up interesting questions. Both Fairphone and the Consumentenbond are respectabele organisations. So please let us know their respons.
The FP website is loaded with their accreditation/rewards. So you can find more there.
Thank you for your message.
How do I contact the right person of the Fairphone staff? (preferably someone who understands Dutch)
Your link [contactsupport] didnât seem to work.
Hi Gert, you are right, this surprises me also and I immediately emailed the Consumentenbond to ask for clarification. As a member I can see testscore details. Itâs rather unbelievable to see the Apple get a 9.8 (out of 10!) for company sustainability and Fairphone a 8.9.
Am I missing something here? Is Apple really doing good things for sustainability that I do not know about or is this just superficial testing by the Consumentenbond? I suspect the last and since Fairphone is working hard to increase brand awareness they should know about this.
Hi gerritj,
Thanks for your comment.
Good that you contacted the Consumentenbond.
Did you get a reply?
We must insist on a reply, otherwise they are going on with their business as usual.
The problem is that the evaluations (eindcijfers, beoordelingen) are not explained, there are no sources on which those evaluations are based. So I donât know if Consumentenbond just copies what is on the website of Apple about sustainability and take it for the truth.
PS recently I discovered that laptop tests (Notebooks) ignore Framework notebook, and non-repairable laptops get the highest rankings (accidentally always Apple!).

you can contact me also via my blog
Hello Gert, I just had a quick scroll through your Consumentenbond blog and see you already made a great effort in this issue. In my email I stated I would appreciate an article in which they explain their test-ratings on sustainability and I received an answer that they could not guarantee this but that my question has been send to the experts.
