Installing Google Chrome on Fairphone 6 with e/OS

My banking app (AIB) has stopped working citing security issues. I’m not sure if this is a problem within the app, or something relating to the recent e/OS 3.3 update. The customer support agent suggested it’s due to Chrome not being the web view handler, but I don’t have Chrome installed and it won’t install through the App Lounge: there’s no error message, but I get a “Retry” button after attempting install.

Is there a way to properly install Chrome on my Fairphone 6 so I can test this fix?

default /e/OS webview is Chromite a fork of Chromium

i don’t use AppLounge, but some says it is not working for month,
have a try using AuroraStore (AppLounge is an addition of Aurora + F-droid)

from official or community branch ? with locked or unlocked bootloader ?

tl;dr I think AIB now requires signing into a Google account via microG services.

Official, and I haven’t changed anything about the bootloader, so locked I guess? “OEM unlocking” under developer settings is off.

AuroraStore did allow me to download Chrome, thanks for the suggestion.

Just having Chrome did not fix the login error, but adding a Google account to microG got me into the banking app. After more testing (including removing Chrome) I’m pretty sure this is a new requirement that was blocking me, as I wasn’t signed into Google before.
