Hi all,
I am installing CalyxOS 7.2.2.0 on my FP4 with the device-flasher on Windows. I would like to share a problem I’ve had with the drivers (first step of the installation: Install USB drivers for Windows) and to ask for advice regarding the bootloader.
The driver was installed with success (according to the messages from windows, but the flasher could not find my phone. So I have decided to install the driver using the device manager: Android device → “Update Driver” → “Browse my computer for drivers” → “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer” → “Android Bootloader Interface”.
Then it worked, but I got stucket after:
Rebooting into fastboot. OKAY [0.000s]
<Waiting for [deviceref]>
Nothing happened. The phone was on fastbootd (it says that the system is CalyxOS 7.2.2.0) and nothing happens on the computer.
As my device manager window still was open, I saw the attention sign next to Android device, so I redid all the driver installation as before, and the installation continued. Same thing at least once again (every time the phone reboots, the device manager looses the drivers).
I think that I read that the drivers should not be installed the way I did, maybe the other way avoids the reinstallation every time. Anyway, it worked. I just post this here if it helps someone else.
Now, my question: should I reboot the bootloader?
When I last installed CalyxOS (on a mac, without the device-flasher), I did not relock the bootloader (it was the time when we had all the bricked FP4s on the forum and when I checked fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability, it returned 0). I would prefer to lock it, but I survived without and I had no problems with any apps.
At the end of the installation with the device-flasher, I was offered the chance to lock the bootloader, but there was no message saying that the fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability was on 1. So I chickened out and finished the installation without locking.
I am now on the Welcome screen but before I go on any further, I wonder if you think that I should reflash to lock the bootloader or if I should continue with an unlocked boot loader.
