In search of fp2 bottom module

Hi all, I am looking for a fp2 bottom module, like many others, where to start?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The usual problems are the mic not working and|or the USB port not functioning. Given the scarce availability a DIY by yourself or a friend may be possible. The following links how what can be done and even a repair shop may carry out the repairs.

You may be lucky and someone has one and there’s always the option to contact a fairphoneangel to see if they may assist.

FP2 Bottom Module: Repair broken µUSB port and or mic

@JohnHughes (thanks again) send me two broken bottom Modules some days ago. This one has a defekt µUSB port. After disassembling I took a picture with a microscope camera and found some solder cracks. Barely to see without magnification. Two cracks at the shield contacts that I am not too worry about, but also one at contact 5. I am sure that was a slack joint. Some serious force must be acted to the Port. I will try to resolder the joints and hope the bottom module will be able to do its work…

Howto repair the microphone inside the bottom module

As fairphone angel (in Berlin) I have a lot of support cases with nonfunctional microphones in the bottom modul. A lot of users have minimum the 2nd, often the 3rd bottom module. Mostly easily changed by Fairphone support in warranty. But there is a lot of waste (I collect old faulty modules and send them back for recycling). So my questions: Did anyone successfully repaired the microphone inside the bottom module by soldering a new smd microphone? What’s the reason for the highly rate of f…
