My FP3 was working well but yesterday I dropped it and now it’s not charging or turning on. The battery was OK before the fall and would have had 50/60%, I cant check the voltage because the probes on my meter are too thick but I am going to get that checked tomorrow and the fact remains that when plugged in I get no buzz or LED.
Some forums have suggested that the fall may have dislodged a connector and to dismantle and rebuild it. I have removed the display unit and popped the connectors between the various modules and the motherboard then re-assembled it all but it has made no difference. Is there another level of disassembly that I should try? Is there something that anyone can suggest that might bring it back to life?
Seem to be having a similar issue.
My 4 year old phone has dropped on the ground a few times in the past and the screen contacts dislodged. Either the screen picture was frozen, was snowy or stayed black but everything else was normal.
This time the screen lock picture was visible so I thought all was good. But during the day the picture was black and when trying to charge the LED stayed off. Later I was able to activate the screen but noticed it was frozen. Tried charging it with a different charger but still no vibration or LED and picture stayed black.
Removing the battery and then being able to restart the phone it vibrated and showed the fairphone logo. The screenlock picture showed battery was at around 56%. But still not able to charge. As soon as the screen saver went on it stayed black again.
Now no matter what I try I get no life sign. Even removed the screen multiple times but to no avail.
Just found this entry. Maybe this fits?
Anyone have a similar issue who was able to solve theirs?
Try a complete disassemby and a reflow using the oven method.
I was sucessful
Thanks for giving me hope. Will try that in the coming days.
Hi Astrocan,
it may not be well after!
This happened to me. After a fall, phone was 100% unresponsive. Changed battery : as if nothing happened. To this day the battery in question is out of order!
Please try putting in a working battery before trying anything else.
Hi.
I’m not sure what you mean by that. Are you able to disassemble and make a photo of all relevant parts of your problem? it looks like a pin broke or doesnt make contact anymore.
