I have an FP5 and I’ve selected a MP3 file to be my ringtone. This works perfectly when my phone isn’t connected to Bluetooth headphones, earbuds or a speaker.
However when it is connected to a Bluetooth audio output, when the phone rings I get a different ringtone (and I believe a different one on each Bluetooth device) plus my phone itself continues to ring.
So I have two questions about this:
How do I get my chosen MP3 ringtone to be used on the Bluetooth devices? and
How do I stop my phone ringing when I’m connected to a Bluetooth output (ie to have the audio ringing only on the Bluetooth device, maybe with vibration on the phone itself)?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions and for reading this far.
That seems to be a common issue among many different phones and headsets. From a quick research it seems like there are headsets out there that are able to play a “custom” ringtone, otherwise they usually use their own ringtone which is what you noticed (and what I know from my headset). Then there seem to be phones that allow the choice of which device should ring. In my FP5 I only found the option to announce the caller when a headset is connected which as ar as I remember also works when the phone is silent (vibration alarm only).
By searching for “ringtone bluetooth headset” you’ll find enough content to fill days. And while (1) seems to be unlikely to work, (2) might be achievable with some software adjustments (either by Fairphone or maybe via rooting and then adjusting the audio mixer or something like that).
(1) is disappointing, I felt that I hadn’t had that problem with previous phones (Oneplus and Samsung) but that might just be that I use more Bluetooth devices than I used to.
(2) feels like more aggravation than it would be worth.
