How to Transfer Data using a Cable from iPhone

Here are the steps I’ve been advised to follow:

  1. Turn on your new Fairphone and tap Start.

  2. Connect to a mobile network:

    • Insert a SIM card or tap Download a new eSIM.

    • Or tap Skip.

  3. Connect to Wi-Fi:

    • Tap your network name to connect.

    • Or tap Set up offline.

  4. To Copy apps & data, tap Next until you’re asked to find a cable.
Tip: This is usually the cable used for charging.

  5. Insert the cable into your old iPhone, then tap Next.

Unfortunately after step 3 it doesn’t give me the option of clicking “Next until I’m asked to find a cable”…what do I do?

Hello,

Maybe this link is of use? There appear to be more steps and other ways of copying data.

Welcome to the forum.

Just to be clear, you’ll need a cable compatible with your iPhone (likely a Lightning plug) at one end and USB-C at the other.

Did you connect to Wi-Fi?

Do you mean that there’s no “Next” button? If there’s no “Next” button, could you post a photo of the Fairphone screen, or describe it?

Yes I have that cable, but unfortunately can’t even get to that stage as the following screen doesn’t come up. I can connect to a mobile network and wifi fine (steps 2 and 3).

“To Copy apps & data, tap Next until you’re asked to find a cable.”

wow, I wasn’t even aware this is possible nowadays….

Don’t wow too soon, maybe it’s not!

I’m hoping @tristanw can provide a photo of the FP screen, maybe using the iPhone.

There ought to be some option to continue, or skip whatever step is causing a problem.
