How to switch sound output between hearing aids and speaker?

I have hearing aids. Generally I prefer to listen to music/podcasts via the speaker, not directly into my ears. However, as soon as I put my hearing aids in, the sound output switches to the ears. I want to use the hearing aids directly for calls but not for most other listening.

On my last phone, an Xiaomi Mi9, it was easy to switch between ears and speaker.

How do I do this on Fp5 please?

Just a thought. Switch off Bluetooth.

I need Bluetooth to use the hearing aid controls. And I think the hearing aids connect to the phone by Bluetooth so thanks but can’t do that.

I mean just switch off when you want to listen to music.
My hearing aids show in the Bluetooth section, Connected devices as
2 hearing aids with a Bluetooth icon and 1 hearing aid with a headphone icon.
When I go to settings (cog wheel) of the 1 hearing aid with a headphone icon there I can switch the audio on and off. When off I hear music through the speakers.

Well, I’ll have a go at that again later when I put them in, and tell you if it works.

You can set the audio playback device by going to

Settings > Sound and vibration > Audio will play on …
There you will see the list of currently available devices, including “This phone”

You can reach the same dialogue box at any time during or recently after playback, by swiping down from the top of the screen where you should see the audio playback app widget in the quick-access settings pane. Tap the playback device button in the top right-hand corner of the widget.

Hi Lidwien and Old Routard. Finally got round to having a big experimentation session and, between the two of you guys, have learnt a lot about the phone! Thanks to you both.

Discovered that the headphone icon was in the list of known devices but was not connected, only the two separate earpieces were connected. “This phone” was the only output possibility, although the sound switched to my ears when I put the earpieces in and they turned on automatically. Then I was stuck with audio to ears.

Now I have connected the headpiece and can switch Bluetooth to it on and off.

And

Now I know about “the audio playback app widget in the quick-access settings pane” and can both turn the audio playback app on and off, switch its sound output between ears and microphone and change the volume from the front screen! It’s great!
