How to switch from Calyx OS to /e/OS

Hello forum,

since one year I was happily using my FP5 with CalyxOS rom. Now Calyx updates are stopped for at least 6 months. This is why I want to move on to /e/ OS.

While digging into the topic I raised some concerns about my plan. I would be happy to get some feedback.

I have some concerns regarding anti rollback protection. If I understood correctly, it is preventing me from relocking the bootloader for any security patch version < current one installed.

Current Calyx OS A15 security patch version is given like this within the settings menu:

Plattform: 1. Juni 2025
Kernel: 5. Juni 2025
Hersteller: 5. Mai 2025
Firmware: 5. Mai 2025

Most recent Fairphone OS version:

Version: FP5.VT28.C.042
Release date: 21 July 2025
Security patch level: 05 June 2025

Most recent /e/ OS versions:

/e/OS build : A15 community (Security patch: 2025-06-01)

/e/OS build : A14 official (Security patch: 2025-06-01)

Current Calyx OS details (I tried to gather :wink:):

$ fastboot oem device-info
(bootloader) Verity mode: true
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: true
$ fastboot getvar anti
getvar:anti FAILED (remote: 'GetVar Variable Not found')

Questions on my way:

  1. Do I need to go back to stock ROM before installing a different custom ROM?
    e.g.: Calyx OS → Fairphone OS → /e/ OS
  2. Do I need to use the community version (A15) of /e/ OS due to the fact that my phone is already running Android 15 (Calyx OS)? Official build is A14 only.
  3. I don’t understand what versions (given with german names, Plattform, Kernel, Hersteller, Firmware) I am supposed to compare as “security patch level” on my current installation.
  4. Seems like even the latest community /e/ OS release is still outdated by the second google patch of June. Should I just wait until /e/ OS updates overtake the current version on my Calyx to be safe?

Thanks for your kind support,
stayfair5 :wink:

Did you consider IodeOS?

However, if you want to lock the bootloader you need the official e/OS version.

When you want to lock the booloader only the SPL is relevant not the Android version

There is no need to go back to FPOS inbetween.
