Yes the default player is the youtube one, which I didn’t like and I had the same problem so installed alternatives
(By the way…I don’t undertand why they use Google software for this kind of smartphone)
Fairphone has to use some operating system and Google’s Android is the most common and available, and hence the easiest to modify to work on a new set of modules. There are people working on alternative Android options ~ you can search for Lineage and /e/
