I would definitely call this a major problem. GPS on FP4 is really unreliable, see GPS fix takes very long after update (with e.g. Mapy.cz and GPSTest)

It drains the power now twice as fast but I have read that that may be the case for all Android phones.

I doubt that it’s due to eSIM (more likely just a coincidence). But you are definitely not alone. Battery life after A13 update is absolutely horrendous, see FP4 battery life got worse after Android 13 update

I will continue to use the Fairphone 4. I considered upgrading to a Fairphone 5 in order to get the OLED screen but that would cost me a lot of money and would defeat the original purpose of a repairable, long term use phone to begin with.

Well, good on you. I gave up and purchased Google Pixel 8a.
