How do I Enable run foreground service permission?

Hello! I’ve recently gotten myself a fairphone 5.
Now I want to use a certain app to cast onto my tv with Chromecast but it tells me it needs run foreground service enabled. Enabling it in the app doesn’t seem to actually enable it.
And I can’t seem to figure out how to enable it from settings? I can’t find this setting in the permissions tab, and going to the app in settings itself it won’t allow me to allow or deny the setting?
Neither does the app request this permission to my phone.
Is there a way to manually enable foreground service for a specific app?

It is not entirely clear what the app wants:

  1. There are special cases where the app wants permission but Android thinks that’s stupid. Then an additional point “Grant permission for…” appears in the 3-dot menu for the app permissions
  2. Sometimes this means “May be displayed on top of other apps”
  3. Sometimes this means “App may also run in the background”

Which version is the right one depends on which Android version the app was originally programmed for. If the app cannot do this autonomously, that is very worrying.

Since this problem seems to apply to a specific app, it would help to know which app it is. Usually apps don’t need to ask for permission to run a foreground service. In Android’s docs it says:

Foreground services perform operations that are noticeable to the user. Foreground services show a status bar notification, to make users aware that your app is performing a task in the foreground and is consuming system resources.

Also consider asking for help at a place that is related to that app. Like a support E-Mail address or community forum.
