Hi, I did the system update and since my Google Maps isn’t working. It shows I’m logged in, but continuously tells me I am not connected to the internet. I am, as the phone is working on everything else. I have tried numerous times to reinstall the app. I am using the app via App Lounge, and not logged into Google on the phone, but just for maps. Help please!
Could this be the issue that is described here: DNS over TLS/IPv6 issues- Apps don't load data over Wifi - #184 by Nanoc
Switch wifi off and on again will solve the issue temporarily.
Which update have you done?
I had such issues on the FP5 and 6 two or 3 days ago and changing to mobile dats did not help. Maybe there is some issue with Gmaps
It is a known issue with microG not updated relative to recent changes in Gogol services..
/e/ team is working at a new FOSS “Cardinal Maps” app to replace “Magic Earth” that even closed sources, was a privacy respectfull workaround for years.
The new “Murena Maps” should be released in a couple of month. (with e-4.0)
To which /e/OS version?
Settings - About phone - /e/OS version
Version 3.7 should have a fix for a known Google Maps issue which sounds like your issue … Google Maps doesn't work (#9316) · Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab
Please make sure you are on version 3.7, and in case the issue persists there, Report an issue or at least (more simple but less sure way to get anything resolved) leave feedback at Feedback for v3.7 - Build Feedback - /e/OS community
Knowing now you are running e/OS? my and @FreekB comments are obsolete. Please always indicate the system and exact Version installed
Depending on what you are using ggl maps for, Open Street Map based apps (e.g. Organic Maps) or Here We Go might be reasonable alternatives. One more reduction of personal data exposure to the hungry data maelstrom ![]()
I am not very technical minded, I just saw there were updates and update whenever I see, I am currently on /e/OS/3.6-a15-20260312593772-official-FP6 but there is an update now new for 3.7 which I haven’t done, would that work if I did?
I completely agree, my merging fully/ switching to better apps is a work in progress, I have to tackle one at a time as to be honest I’m struggling to learn each app one by one. But my ultimate aim, when I have space, is learning how the new apps work. Thank you.
Looks like it is. As I noticed most apps don’t work. I am traveling so assumed it was something to do with roaming and being in another country…
