Google apps on FP4 /e/OS completely stopped functioning

I am located in the US and have a different OS. Two updates ago, all google apps, most specifically google maps have completely stopped working. I have gone and allowed all required items. Have ensured that there is nothing stopping the app on in the advanced privacy section. Made sure to enable google analytics ect. My google photos, semi works. photos taken get saved to the library but don’t connect to the cloud. I can’t send google photo links anymore, just says I’m not connected to the internet. But I am. Google drive, nothing. They all let me log in. They all appear to be working, sharing everything, but they are all failing.
I’m like this close to giving up on fairphone. I love the concept, I can handle that the camera is pretty much garbage. But I need things to function. Is anyone else in the US with a fairphone experiencing these issues?

/e/OS is for those who do not want to use Google services.

Based upon your comments it seems that you want the stock Android operating system with full Google tracking enabled; do a search on how to reset your phone to standard Android and then you will be good to go.

Is it common after an update for this choice to change? Because I has selected that option when setting up my app store and phone to allow for the standard android system. Everything was working until early august when they released an OS update and since then, things have stopped working.

What do you mean with this?

e/OS is meant to work with Google Apps, so for me its rather a surprise it worked initially.

When logging into the app lounge, it specifically asked me if I wanted to connect it to my google account. I clicked yes and then logged into my google stuff, no issues. I didn’t really feel like I selected anything different when initializing my phone. All google apps were working for me all June and July. Then early August roughly I updated my phone and the first I noticed was google maps not working. I was struggling to even download the app from the app lounge. I had to clear the cache and storage multiple times. Relogin in and connect to google. Finally the app started downloading. But it doesnt matter how many times I uninstall or redownload, the app with spin and spin and not show me actual maps… I can login to my google maps account but no data. It mentions something about web activity, but I literally turned on every single permission the app had. Then triple checked my advanced privacy to no avail. I thought when I recently updated my phone a couple weeks ago that would help. But still the same issue, now worse. Photos and drive (google) no longer work either!

Well connecting the App Lounge to a Google Account does not give you the infrastructure needed to have GAps working.

Edit:Do some search in the e/OS forum or ask there naming the exact build that you have installed. Thats at the end no Fairphone specific issue

And for further clarification

Did you try out the “Fairphone camera”? You can enable it in settings->apps->fairphone camera.
I think it’s better than open camera which is enabled by default on /e/OS.

Regarding the Google apps:
As you’re using /e/OS as operating system, you might consider to use Google alternatives (this is mainly what /e/OS is meant for).
E.g. Maps app instead of Google maps.
If you don’t want to use these alternatives, them you might ask on the /e/OS forum (https://community.e.foundatiom) for advice as your problem is not HW (Fairphone) but a software (/e/OS resp. Murena) problem.

If you have a backup of all your relevant data, then a dic:factorydatareset may also help.
