Freestyle Libre 3 no longer working after upgrade to Android15?

Hello, I’ve upgraded the FP4 to A15, while a Freestyle LIbre 3 Glucose monitor was connected - it lost connection. I replaced and connected a new sensor - and it paired and showed a value but then again lost connection. I found out, that it appears to shortly connect after a reboot and sometimes, if I am quick, shows a value. I am back to old-school measuring via stitching a finger and ordered the dedicated LibreStyle 3 reading device, but really would like to go back to using the phone as main device - anyone else having this problem? Opened a ticket with support shortly after update, but cannot even find a confirmation mail for this. Anyone else having this problem?

Any solutions on the horizon?

thanks!

There are a few topics around this already, did you notice those?

You also might take a look at juggluco (play store). My wife is using this for a year now, and is really happy, way better than the original freestyle app. Also, I can follow her with xdrip (which unfortunately (?) only comes from a github repo)

Added: you can switch between original app und juggluco at will.

Thanks for the pointer - indeed I did not find those threads, my search was only turning up FP3-related issues.
Unfortunately, none of the threads seems to have a working fix, so far - hoping for a quick new update being pushed!

I’m in the same boat as you all, luckily the app shortly connects with the sensor directly after boot, then after a few minutes I get the “no signal” error.

Looking at the other threads linked above, there does not yet seem like there is a good solution unfortunately (most involve turning on and off airplane mode, or downgrading).

I depend on the Libre3 app to work correctly for my diabetes management, and would very much appreciate if this issue could fixed. As of now, I’m strongly considering going back to the separate reader device with which I had never had issues.

Thank you for your help !

Did you try juggluco? Works without problems for libre sensors, is more reliable and can connect to libreview

Hi @lklaus, no I have not yet tried juggluco. You’re saying it can connect to an already activated sensor ? Does juggluco manage to get a connection to the sensor even when Libre3 does not ?

I’ll give the linked thread a look tonight and try to mess around with it. Thank you !

Hi

Yes, in fact, you can switch between those apps, best to check HTTPS://juggluco.nl

(The important point is to store your libreview id, all described on the web page)

My wife’s type 1, and she absolutely loves it. BTW, it repeats hi/lo alerts in case you missed them, and it can connect to xdrip+, where one can add followers (interesting probably especially for following your children’s data) or send it to some smart bands

Thank you, I’m taking a look at juggluco right now. (I was not aware of all the shenanigans that goes on with the LibreView account ID and all.. scary stuff as I don’t want to brick the patch on which I have 14 days remaining !)

In the meantime, I have found out that turning off and on Bluetooth, the Libre3 app is able to temporarily (~ few minutes) receive data. I guess this is better than rebooting every time
This I found out after I set background usage of the Bluetooth app to “unlimited” (onbeperkt), done by Settings > Apps > See all apps > Show system apps (upper right menu), then scroll down to “Bluetooth” > Battery usage > click “Allow background usage” (yes you can! It looks like only a toggle but there’s a menu hidden down there) > Select Unlimited (2nd option). Do the same for the Libre3 app.

 this I completely can understand …

It is very important that you are logged on with your libre app before starting the sensor! If that is, it’s very easy to get the id (as described in the help from juggluco). Once, it wasn’t, and we had to go quite a length to find this Id (which will always be somewhere in your account) but not that easily visible. BTW, the reader, as it has no internet, probably creates a random id and is completely out of the loop.

For a year now this works great and my wife would under no circumstances go back to libre app only (especially because value and trend gets sent to a cheap mifit band we got from eBay)

Hi! I am having the same issues as described here. The Libre3 app doesn’t reliably receive data, only after turning airplane mode off and on again I can view my data for a brief period of time.

I got it to work with Juggluco on a sensor that had 5 days left and was previously registered in the Libre3 app with no problem. The UI has a learning curve but it worked very well, continuously receiving data. I had to turn on the “Turbo” setting in the sensor settings. It also worked to send everything to Libre view with Juggluco, even Insulin dosages were synced with Libre view from Juggluco. I had it all!

On a new sensor now, everything stopped working suddenly after 12 hours. None of the apps receive data at all, I guess the sensor is bricked?

I’ll switch to the standalone reader device for the time being, as the apps both seem to be unreliable currently.

Non technical thing here. If not even the official app receives data any longer, you should contact Abbott support, they probably will send a new sensor (my wife had this sometimes). So your allowance (if it’s prescribed by a doctor) will not deplete early
