any other user having the same? May or may not be specific to LineageOS and/or to this specific build. Is there any chance this is more related to this specific build than to lineageOS in general?

There seem to be a lot of drama around the good old Nova Launcher, and a Trebuchet doesn’t seem to support folders in the app drawer, so it seemed like Lawnchair was the main way to go.

Also, I am having issues with backups with Seedvault. It seems to get stuck while backing up system data.

Before I proceed on the seedvault github or on the lineageos subreddit, is there any chance this is related to this specific build? An answer such as no idea is also okay.

Let me know if the last two questions are misplaced. Not sure when the limitations of this build stop and where the limitations of lineageos start.

128 days left. I don’t want to come off as pushy, but @Hund is right and I absolutely agree with going official NOW.

Guys we can iron out the last of the mini-bugs on the way.

It’s the only modular phone with removable battery, and one of the few phones left with unlockable bootloader on the worldwide market. This hardware is special and therefore I believe, given these facts, the almost finished status, and the clock ticking, the LineageOS team won’t mind a 95% finished build. If explained to them, they’ll grant official status. It would help all of us.

I don’t know what the “customizations scene” is. We’re talking about the fact that Google is trying to kill privacy (which is considered to be a human right by the law) and they’re working hard to tighten the whole surveillance cr*p around Android.

Let me quote the website Keep Android Open:

In August 2025, Google announced a new requirement: starting September 2026, every Android app developer must register centrally with Google before their software can be installed on any device. Not just Play Store apps: all apps. This includes apps shared between friends, distributed through F-Droid, built by hobbyists for personal use. Independent developers, church and community groups, and hobbyists alike will all be frozen out of being able to develop and distribute their software.

Registration requires:

• Paying a fee to Google
• Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
• Surrendering your government-issued identification
• Providing evidence of your private signing key
• Listing all current and all future application identifiers

This means that the whole ecosystem of apps for Android will be a lot less. And it also means that you basically need a custom ROM without the malware from Google like their Play Services to have a phone that you have some sort of basic control of.

I would also ask to not have a general discussion here about Google plans and focus on LOS for the FP6, to help Arian focus on feedback for practical development.

I would love to support by donation if given a PayPal (or something similar). Technically, I can’t contribute, but this way I can help the maintainer.

I also want to stress that an official image will enable us to broaden the userbase, because LOS is quite popular and everyone will then see there is a Fairphone 6 image they can simply install.

We’d also be on the building roster for LOS, meaning OTA updates are easy. This would enable Arian to push updates to everyone easily, making fixing bugs much more centralized.

There are several good reasons for going official, the latest Google changes being only one of several good arguments for it. By bringing this topic to everyone’s attention, @Hund and I did not want to push Adrian in any way (I explicity said I don’t, in my last post), but merely want this matter to be discussed and not forgotten. Overcoming inertia is a thing in developing software. Starting and developing as an unofficial build was the right thing to do to get this build started, but I believe now is the time to move forward.

I am thankful for everything Adrian has done and will support him.

It’s not as if official LineageOS would be the first or only one … oslist .
Official LineageOS will of course be a very desirable addition, but it will not mean the apocalypse if it simply takes as long as it takes to get there.

@ArianK16a I’m seeing some issues with Widevine and ExoPlayer as the playback fails with ERROR_DRM_GENERIC_OEM. Is this possibly related to the LOS build (I’m on 20260322)?
I’ll send the logs for Nintendo Music, but I’m seeing the same behaviour with the ExoPlayer demo.

Thats a known issue with FPOS as well from the beginning, not sure why they dont get tjis fixed
