any other user having the same? May or may not be specific to LineageOS and/or to this specific build. Is there any chance this is more related to this specific build than to lineageOS in general?

There seem to be a lot of drama around the good old Nova Launcher, and a Trebuchet doesn’t seem to support folders in the app drawer, so it seemed like Lawnchair was the main way to go.

Also, I am having issues with backups with Seedvault. It seems to get stuck while backing up system data.

Before I proceed on the seedvault github or on the lineageos subreddit, is there any chance this is related to this specific build? An answer such as no idea is also okay.

Let me know if the last two questions are misplaced. Not sure when the limitations of this build stop and where the limitations of lineageos start.

128 days left. I don’t want to come off as pushy, but @Hund is right and I absolutely agree with going official NOW.

Guys we can iron out the last of the mini-bugs on the way.

It’s the only modular phone with removable battery, and one of the few phones left with unlockable bootloader on the worldwide market. This hardware is special and therefore I believe, given these facts, the almost finished status, and the clock ticking, the LineageOS team won’t mind a 95% finished build. If explained to them, they’ll grant official status. It would help all of us.

I don’t know what the “customizations scene” is. We’re talking about the fact that Google is trying to kill privacy (which is considered to be a human right by the law) and they’re working hard to tighten the whole surveillance cr*p around Android.

Let me quote the website Keep Android Open:

In August 2025, Google announced a new requirement: starting September 2026, every Android app developer must register centrally with Google before their software can be installed on any device. Not just Play Store apps: all apps. This includes apps shared between friends, distributed through F-Droid, built by hobbyists for personal use. Independent developers, church and community groups, and hobbyists alike will all be frozen out of being able to develop and distribute their software.

Registration requires:

• Paying a fee to Google
• Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
• Surrendering your government-issued identification
• Providing evidence of your private signing key
• Listing all current and all future application identifiers

This means that the whole ecosystem of apps for Android will be a lot less. And it also means that you basically need a custom ROM without the malware from Google like their Play Services to have a phone that you have some sort of basic control of.

I would also ask to not have a general discussion here about Google plans and focus on LOS for the FP6, to help Arian focus on feedback for practical development.

I would love to support by donation if given a PayPal (or something similar). Technically, I can’t contribute, but this way I can help the maintainer.

I also want to stress that an official image will enable us to broaden the userbase, because LOS is quite popular and everyone will then see there is a Fairphone 6 image they can simply install.

We’d also be on the building roster for LOS, meaning OTA updates are easy. This would enable Arian to push updates to everyone easily, making fixing bugs much more centralized.

There are several good reasons for going official, the latest Google changes being only one of several good arguments for it. By bringing this topic to everyone’s attention, @Hund and I did not want to push Adrian in any way (I explicity said I don’t, in my last post), but merely want this matter to be discussed and not forgotten. Overcoming inertia is a thing in developing software. Starting and developing as an unofficial build was the right thing to do to get this build started, but I believe now is the time to move forward.

I am thankful for everything Adrian has done and will support him.

It’s not as if official LineageOS would be the first or only one … oslist .
Official LineageOS will of course be a very desirable addition, but it will not mean the apocalypse if it simply takes as long as it takes to get there.

@ArianK16a I’m seeing some issues with Widevine and ExoPlayer as the playback fails with ERROR_DRM_GENERIC_OEM. Is this possibly related to the LOS build (I’m on 20260322)?
I’ll send the logs for Nintendo Music, but I’m seeing the same behaviour with the ExoPlayer demo.

1. If I leave the camera locked by default, and I unlock it within an app such as “Manabox”, nothing seem to happen (still black screen) bust something like 6 cameras (or more) are selectable. Then if I try to open the default camera app I get the error: too many cameras open at the same time. Then I can only fix it by restarting the device. Never had this issues on my previous Samsung phone.

2. I get this update notification, should I ignore it?

Is it for the standard build? How can I avoid this notification popping up?

3. I just got a notification: “google play service couldn’t complete the updates” even though I she my device to update through seedvault

What do you mean by “camera locked”? What do these apps do, does e.g. manabox feature a normal in-app camera like a messenger for example? I’ve never seen apps open several camera instances at once. Seems something is seriously wrong here.

Yes, it is for the official fairphone OS. It shouldn’t even appear, if LineageOS is properly installed.

• 2. yeah,I am surprised I am getting that notification. It seems to appear about once a day. I am not daring to click install, naturally. It started 2-3 days ago.
• 3. It seemed a play services notification, it appeared once, out of the blue, quickly and while play services was not the default app for backups.
• 4. I guess bad luck for this.. Probably will need to scroll the logs to get more details if it’s not a common issue.
• 1. The app is somewhat like messenger, but apparently it can see the cameras on the device separately. I have just realized I can make the bug go away if I close all camera apps, then turn off camera access, then turn it on again.

I can add 5-10 screenshots where I reproduce the problem (1) if you think that’s useful for development. May be a combination of this app where the developer left a lot freedom in the camera select option, and that interferes weirdly with the camera access setting.

I flashed yesterday the latest release of LineageOS (thanks @ArianK16a !) and also latest MindTheGapps from recovery, and did a userdata wipe via fastboot and it booted without problems.

I saw this notification about the official Fairphone 6 update, it’s coming from Google Play Services. Safe to ignore and dismiss. Overall, excellent work here. One thing I’ve noticed is that the wide lens camera requires some tuning as the image quality is quite noisy compared to the other lenses. Attached are two shots, same light conditions and you can see what I mean.

No such issue with the wide lens camera. Using the built-in camera app

But I can recreate the pixellated image in the “Scan” tab of the app I mentioned before, this Manabox. I can get it at 1x, not sure what the cause is.
