FP6 Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration - 15.148.0

After the update, my FP6 restarted itself after displaying “Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration.” message. It has restarted every subsequent start the same way. About 5-6 times so far. Any idea what this is?

Hi ! I had the same issue after installing the update. I turned my phone off completely for about ten minutes and it seems to be resolved. Hope this helps!

EDIT - I spoke too soon, and my phone just restarted again….

I’m having the same problem. Should we start sending them logs so they can address it? I’m not sure how to do this but would do it gladly.

Just a vague shot in the dark: Has any of you three @lightrush @melsea @James_Meinert tried if this problem persists with no SIM in the SIM drawer? (unless you are on eSIMs, of course)

I just updated to this release and my phone keeps rebooting randomly. The screen just says “Restarting”, and then it does exactly that.

It says something really quickly about applying a configuration that requires a restart so there’s “something” that seems to change a config and then triggers a reboot.

I moved your post here as above there are more reports. Also see @urs_lesse suggestion

I’m using an eSIM. I was able to transfer it to my Pixel. The restarting seems to have stopped.

Canada, Freedom Mobile

I just tried removing the SIM card and my phone immediately restarted with the same issue as before… Thanks for the suggestion though.

I’m also in Canada, with Public Mobile.

Does it keep restarting after this restart with the SIM removed?

Nevermind. Mine’s restarting even with the eSIM removed. Just takes longer sometimes.

I’ll give it a shot tonight, but I don’t have anything that can fit in the sim slot to eject the thing right now. Thx!

I also just tried restarting into safe mode and it still continued to restart randomly, with somewhat of a delay.

Does anyone know if this release can be downgraded easily? My phone is pretty useless right now and I understand the fix may take quite a while; I’d like to be able to roll this back somehow.

I also having the Reboot issue on my FP6 right after installing the update. Sometimes it reboots again right after it finishes rebooting. My phone is useless at the moment. How can I roll back the update? I am in the US, with Mint mobile. I purchased the phone from Vireo.de

I have the same issue everyone is reporting. There’s a brief message “Restart the phone to load the corresponding configuration” - then the phone does just that. I’ve removed an esim I thought caused the issue, it happened even without any SIM card installed. There is no predictability. Phone setting is English with Region US, SIM cards are physical SIM from Vodafone Espãna and eSIM from MEO Portugal. The device’s battery also depletes like crazy after this update.

Update: I don’t want to be too optimistic and I know this is far from an option for everyone but I switched to a different language than English (US) and since then my phone has not restarted.

Sounds like the restart issue should be looked into be engineering with some urgency. Reports piling on Reddit too. The more people are affected, the more difficult it would get to resolve all cases with an OTA, since the restarting makes OTA difficult.

I hope you guys are reporting this to Fairphone Support. However, I have no idea at all in how far Fairphone development is able to deal technically with issues concerning outer-European providers and bands (I have noticed we now have one case of European providers, but I cannot see if that FP6 is used in Europe or the USA – different bands afaik).

I think it could help if one of you was in a position to “afford” a factory reset and then see if the problem returns (without SIM), and if not, if it returns after setting up the cell and data connection again.

Only noticing this right now. Do let us know if this lasts! :+1:
