FP6 Refresh rate dropping seemingly random

Yes for sure that’s why i pick 60 hz in the settings but its 10-60 hz at random everytime you unlock the phone
if you pick 120hz its gone be worse for battery life but then its 10-120 hz randomly

so picking 120hz is the best choose right now as then its gone be less of a problem as you may unlock the phone and it can be 60 or 80 or 90 or its lower then 60 and it becomes a problem again…

May be this could help for this problem too

nope its happens on everything simple game youtube and what ever els i can open all is the same
i can make a list its all apps
its not animation…
Google Authenticator
Dropbox
Calculator
Camera
Catima
ING banking (my banking app)
chrome
firefox youtube
old school runescape
minecraft
discord
steam
terraria
VLC
twitch
signal

i can keep going until i have run over all build in apps and app i installed its all the same

best work around is putting the phone to 120hz and hopping wen you unlock the phone the OS does not pick something below 60 hz els you are better off locking the phone again and unlocking it again

Hello,
I am unsure if it something with my phone or known bug, but could not find it in the forum yet. I got FP6 with the latest update (FP6.QREL.15.105.0) and since I can remember (did the update on first day) the phone lags brutally when unlocking, a couple times a day. Also when alarms ring. All animations go super slow. I tried changing launcher (I had Microsoft Launcher before, jumped to quickstep) and it is the same. Only way to use the phone is to lock again, wait around 10s, unlock.

Shall I request a change on warranty? Sounds like a software problem, but maybe it is not.

I moved your post here guessing its the same issue

Thanks! Never thought of it being bad refresh rate, but just phone hanging. Good it is known issue at least.

It’s driver issue, almost 100% sure. It seems like the screen locks itself in the 10hz mode.

I noticed it happens almost every time when I have bed time mode on. I think what happens is:

  1. Screen is off entirely, then;
  2. Screen turns on rapidly, and almost at the same time;
  3. Switches from the AOD screen to the regual lock screen,
  4. Goes into a different state with the fingerprint overlay possibly somewhere in the middle of all of it as well,
  5. The driver probably crashes during one of the display mode switches.

But at the same time I’ve noticed the driver crashes also when there is a media player notification on the AOD screen. This seems to lock the display in 10hz mode as well.

Hello everyone,

I’m new here and I hope I can help and that I’m doing everything correctly. What helps me at least reduce the frequency of the 10 Hz problem and freezing is to change or disable the AOD settings for Spotify. The preview display often causes the error for me.

Unfortunately, I occasionally have the additional problem that the phone doesn’t automatically adjust the brightness correctly outdoors. I haven’t found a solution for this yet.

I hope these problems will be solved with an update.

An update is arriving today for this apparently. Although it can depend if your mobile operator has to approve first.

Thats great! Do u know if there are other fixes included?

I think it mentioned shutter speed optimisation and improvements to video sound.

The update sadly doesn’t fix the problem: Software Update: FP6.QREL.15.122.0 - #13 by DarkCloud

Yip updated yesterday and its still happing for **** sake what ever the devs have done has not done anything or fix anything at all with the phone god i hope lineageos come with a rom soon as it seems fairphone devs are not seeing the problem at all (the devs dont even use the phone it self it seems)

To add even on more youtube videos stop playing for a sec wen turning the phone oke now after the update… it still happens so what have the devs fixed?

At this point i think they are trying to tweak the display driver to what they want but by doing so breaking the basic display driver instead of just using default settings

After installing FP6.QREL.15.122.0 on Tuesday and disabling the screen wake up by notifications I’ve had 0 frame drops so far.

I guess commenting in here that I had non will trigger it😂

I am not using quickstep as launcher (Microsoft launcher instead) and I have always ok screen enabled. Also I made fingerprint sensor not to unlock the screen, I need to first press the button instead. Refresh rate set to. 90hz.

I still have the issue after the recent update as well.

I never had it (AOD off, Smart Launcher 6, fingerprint reader configured for unlocking). Go figure.

that is off be default

but you say you use (Microsoft launcher so maybe thats why you dont have the problem but i somehow doubt that as this is not related to the launcher at all
