Hello everyone,
I received the FP6 today. When I compare the pictures of the FP5, the FP5 pictures are almost always better. I had hoped that the new camera would be better. I notice it most in against the light. The pictures from the FP6 have a fog. Any tips or other experiences?
You have the initial software, Iâm almost sure that the full potential of the camera is not yet used and may still improve with the coming updates. But you could already show a few comparison pictures if you have both devices available
This is from their press materials about the camera:
âWe are still fine-tuning some aspects of the camera software, with an update scheduled for shortly after launch.â
A post was split to a new topic: Speaker of the FP6 compared to FP5
I can confirm this. In my experience, FP5 photos are generally brighter, while FP6 photos tend to be darker.
The wide-angle camera isnât as wide as the one on the FP5, but the photo quality seems better (more detail despite the lower resolution).
Night photos are better on the FP6.
As Martin_Anderseck mentioned above, I expect software updates to improve the situation.
Both the FP4 and FP5 received camera app updates with significant improvements after release. For the FP4, the update came more than two years after its launch and only after the FP5 was already available. I suspect this was possible because they were able to backport it.
Hopefully, with the FP6, we wonât have to wait that long.
Would you be willing to share a few pics and start the FP6 - Pictures Gallery topic as we have for all other FPs forumgallery ?
Thanks for posting on this issue. Itâs a question I have myself - Iâm still using my FP3 so I will no doubt see a huge difference in the camera when upgrading to FP6. And itâs one of the areas that really matters to me - Iâd love my photos to look a little better and am jealous of the photos of others, even when theyâre not using especially new phones. Is the FP6 camera âcompetitiveâ as far as anyone who has used it can tell?
I compared it to the OnePlus 9R, which doesnât have a particularly good camera. I think theyâre roughly on par in terms of image details, but colors on the F6 are less vibrant. I used stock camera apps on both. As a side note, the port of GCam is working fine on the F6, all cameras and modes are working, even slow motion. The only thing that doesnât work is RAW
Which one exactly did you use?
I only tested this one: MGC_9.2.113_A11_V29_snap.apk
From BSG: MGC_9.2.113_A11_V29
But I assume others should be working too.
The wider lens seems deformed with this gcam version. But it does take better photos at first glance !
The software is not finalised yet, so I expect it will improve
Where did you get the info, that the software is not finalised yet?
+1
I would also really like a FP6 Gallery - could anybody with a FP6 start one?
Has anybody already especially tested the FP6 Night View mode in dark conditions? Does the result changes with the used App (GCam, FP, OpenCamera)?
I still use a used Pixel 2 from 2018 (used 2022 to now after dumping FP2 from 2016) and it makes VERY good night views (also with nearly complete absence of any light source) - If FP6 can at least compete to the Pixel 2 camera from 2018 I would be happy to again jump onto the FP-train! Or do we are already in the next league anyway nowadays?
I created the topic, maybe it will encourage others to upload a few pics.
Coming from Pixel 6A to FP6, camera is mostly OK except:
- night mode (even with maximum time exposure, struggles to catch any light in harsh conditions)
- portrait mode: the worst, the bokeh effect is a disaster, applied blur doesnât follow any logic and is really coarse on edges and corners
Using gcam port recommended above, I found quality back so itâs really a software issue.
Apparently FP team is quite reactive to community feedback so I can imagine they will fix this whenever they can.
