FP6 battery drains quickly after 10 month

Hello, community,

I’m new here. :innocent:

I’ve had my Fairphone 6 for 10 months and generally love it.

Unfortunately, for the past month (Android 16??? DNS_TLS_WLAN_ERROR???), I’ve been having a problem where my battery drains quickly.

I’ve changed the settings to charge the battery to 80% and use slow charging.

I’m not a heavy phone user and can’t get through a day without charging the battery twice.

Where should I start troubleshooting this? Could it really be the battery itself?

Under Settings / Battery / Battery Usage, I can see the battery usage of apps since the last charge. The values range from 6% to 11%.

Does anyone have any experience with this or any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Alex

I doubt.

Did you reboot the phone to see if this solves it?

Try in safemode and without SIM to see if this changes the behavior.

Maybe you can also check which process actually consuming the energy, i.e. use too much CPU for example. Also wakelocks could be a problem.
What could also help, is cleaning the app cache of the phone.

Thank you for your ideas. I rebooted without SIM.

I’m not sure if I do it right or get the full meaning of safemode. When I hold the quieter button while rebooting I enter a boot menu, this offers recovery mode, power off, restart bootloader and start. I booted in recovery mode, didnt do more and switched back to normal boot. After the reboot I needed to switch back to my once seleced alternative app launcher. And I did a second (normal) reboot to enter the SIM card and do a proper login to my provider.

Lets watch the battery now. :star_struck:

Hy, thank you for your ideas. I checked out and installed the sd maid app because I don’t want to clear all single app caches manually. But the apps option “clear app data” doesn’t show up some clearable data after scanning. Maybe I’ll go the manual way…

I activated the developer options of the android 16, I found there a way to show up running processes but no way to check the CPU.

I see a couple of running processes, like my running app and the antivirus app.

I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks a lot,

Alexander

…and finally, after all the reboots and checkings, my fairphone now installs the latest update version QREL.16.82.0.

Let’s see what it change.

After the update I needed to switch my all launcher again…

And I found this discussion about android 16 and draining battery…

…maybe I should try the idea to stop the 80%-limit (once) and do a full empty-100%-load-cycle.

hi everybody, thank you for your support and ideas. After a couples of days of observation I would say, I’m fine with my battery now. :innocent:

After the hard reboot (safemode) without SIM, two full battery loads from 3 - 100 % with fairphone off, it looks good and runs for almost more than a day without charging.

love it.

enjoy your summer,

Alex
