FP6 Battery drain at night

Hello everyone, during the past few weeks I started to notice that my FP6’s battery drains between 10 to 20% during the night with the screen off. At night I always turn off wifi, mobile data, bluetooth etc.

When I check the battery usage I can’t pinpoint a specific app that is the culprit. Last night for example I had google, play services and quickstep all working in the background the whole night. Other times I’ve seen messaging or social media apps at the top of the list. I’ve tried to restrict background activity for some of them with no results so far.

I’m genuinely wondering what these apps could be doing in the background with no active connection to the internet. I’m not tech savvy so if you have any insight please share it.

Has anyone else experienced this and have you found any solutions?

We’ve just experienced the same with a recently factory-reset phone. It’s my wife’s phone and she charged it before I could check the app usage to find the culprit (could we retain battery usage data beyond last charge, please? My cheap Samsung does). Will update if it happens again.

Hi,

It seems our FP6’s screen drains the battery more than I would expect.

Regardless of what is on the screen, if anything is happening on the screen, light/dark mode, I’d say about 1% battery is lost per minute. This could be a dark screen with nothing moving.

We have restricted background usage of many apps, but it feels as if the battery drains more quickly than I’d expect.

To compound this, the battery recently lost 25% overnight, despite not being touched, and with the screen off. My cheap Samsung doesn’t have a great battery but at least it holds its charge when idle!

How do others feel about the battery?

Paul

Just a hince. Is your phone set to 5G? What happens if you select 4G/3G/2G for the SIMhcard?

I can confirm that 10-20% battery drain over night.

Same conditions like on your phone, screen off and flight mode active.

Additionally usually all apps are closed in the morning. This is something I have never had with my previous Samsung Galaxy A52.

Hi,

Since I started using my new eSIM with 5G (I previously had a SIM card with only 4G), I have had the same problem. Yesterday, I disabled 5G in the network settings (or selected 4G as the preferred option) and since then, battery drain has been drastically reduced.

I would try to remove or disable the sim card in network settings.

Really drained during period of no activities even with limited activities of background apps in developers settings. I really thinks may be two things at least in fp6: 1. Network activities from the Security Advance set-up e/OS ( from previous experience this kind of services consume a lot of battery browsing and even when they’re not disable) 2. Esim services or networking backgrounds activities from your internet and signal provider.
