FP5 Usb transfer greyed and not working

Hello, I have a FP5 since around 1 year. But the USB-C communication doesn’t work. When I plug my FP5 on my computer, the USB settings kept greyed and I can’t change to file transfers. I try with different USB cables, cable who working with another phone.
USB Debugging not working too.
I try to clean the connector, no change.
No second or guest account.
No SD card.
Any idea to fix the problem ?

Thanks

Hello, has it stopped working or did it never work?

Welcome to the forum:)

Hello, thanks

It stopped. I have already used file transfers and USB debugging for my course to have a screen mirroring.

Hello,

I have the same issue and had my phone sent for repair. Except that the feedback was that the device was fully functional according to all FP testing procedures…what ever that may mean.
Sometimes I can get the device connecting using USB-C to USB-C cable, though mostly that results in a connection (The transfer options are not grayed out), but a non recognized device by Windows. Then afterwards it will connect on one (always-on) port on my PC using USB-A to USB-C cable and it is functional.
It is not a cable issue, as other devices do connect correctly using the same PC and cables.
Wondering if it is a driver issue or design flaw…
Thought it was a SW update issue, but the issue persist after factory reset.

Does the PC recognize the phone? Does Windows play his famous sound? If yes, is it visible in This PC and/or in the device manager?

Can you test it with another PC? You can also connect 2 smartphones to each other and try it this way (both have to be fairly modern). Just to narrow down what the cause could be.

Hi, the FP5 is not reconize by windows, no sound, and no change in the device manager.
I try with USB-C earphone, and it’s not working.

Soooo, I have just opened the USB part … And I saw oxidation on the motherboard ! I tried to clean with isopropylic alcohol and nothing change. Sadly, I can purchase a new USB-C port, but not the motherboard !

I hope FairPhone take this problem into account, I don’t put my phone in humidity environment.
So, I transfer data to my old phone and ask the support of my resseler.

Thanks for your help

Could you tell me if you have finally sorted this out?
Because I had just asked my employer to buy me a fairphone to replace my now too old android profesional phone and I find myself with this problem. My issue is that this file transfer with Windows is something I just can’t do without.
So if this is something unsolvable I will sadly have to ask my employer to send back the phone to the provider and it’s a shame because I was hoping I could prove a fair phone could be profesionnaly operant and influence co-workers to do the same as I tried here

I have solved the problem with sending it to warranty. Seem to the USB motherboard was replaced.
So My conclusion is : FairPhone 5 is not for an intensive use and not recommended in humidity or for a sportive user like running, hiking and trekking.
I think my FairPhone takes the humidity during a rainy hiking. I’m live in Belgium, a rainy country that difficult to do without rain …
I currently not use anymore my FP5 as main phone, And don’t plan to comme back to FairPhone, yeah it’s ethic but for a “power user” it’s really not a good phone, sadly !
Very big money was spent in marketing but really too small in software … And hardware was made to be used in perfect condition.
And NO the phone is not fully repairable, I don’t found USB motherboard as a repair part, it’s frustrating for a technical guy … But it’s a good starting point.
