Dear Fairphone community,
Since some months I can’t load my FP5 in the car or on a laptop. It starts (recognises the cable) but stops after one second again. This is with different cars, cables and laptops so my assumption is, its the phone.
Android auto works via WLAN/Bluetooth, but the battery is draining obviously.
I tried different options like USB debug mode, only loading etc. Nothing worked yet.
Does anyone has an idea?
My specs: FP5 256/8gb
Running the latest FP OS on android 14
Build: FP5.UT2K.B.098.20250109
Afaik, as soon as a USB2-data-connection is established (like with Android Auto or a laptop), most phones limit charging to 500mA, because that’s the limit for USB2-ports according to the official specs.
You could mitigate that in some cases by using a USB3 cable in a USB3-connector. That should raise the limit to 900mA.
Hi Switch,
thank you for the idea! I have at least two USB 3 cable under the tested ones. Its the same issue. I would not even mind if its loading slower. But it is not loading at all
Anyone has another idea?
