FP5 microphone not working for calls

Hi everyone,
FP5, Android 15

I have seen other people having different problem to microphone but i didn’t quite find someone having my problem.
I think contacting the assistance will be the solution in the end, but if you think there is something i could do I will be happy to avoid unnecessary work for them.

So my microphone doesn’t work when calling (with normal call, signal, whatsap, telegram), and primary and secondary microphone both failed the troubleshootin test (via app and via input code).

So the microphone seem to be broken BUT while recording video the microphone works perfectly (or as well as it worked before), vocal message instead are more “silent” where voice should be, as if the microphone (or whatever it is) that cancell the background noise hear the voice but then nothing get recorded.

Also when on loud speaker the microphone works during call as well (i guess that one is another microphone, but neither the primary and secondary since they both failed when tested?? ).

So if i was sure that the microphone are broken i would contact assistance but I would like the opinion of some more expert user before doing that.

Thaks a lot to anyone who will answer (and if you need more info let me know).

Cheers, Guido

update After using again the Service menù i think I can say that m1 is not working and m2 and m3 are working (or at least hearing taps/air being blown in them). From the FP app there is only microphone 1 and 2 (someone knows why??) to test and the test for both give the same results: white noise

Hello and welcome:)

Perhaps you could try the autodiagnostics offered at the website?

Hey thanks for the answer!
I already tried the test from the Service menu but now i know wich microphone is being tested!

So apparently m1 is not working and m2 and m3 are working. From the FP app there is only microphone 1 and 2 to test and the test for both give the same results: background noise as if i was in a windy area without any actual word recorded.

Anyway now i know something more, thanks!

But I’m still lost on what can i do, it doesn’t seems there is any option to repair any of the microphone (and what are 2 and 3 recording? like video and loudspeaker? Is there any way of tell my phone to use that input also for normal calls/vocal messages?)

Hi, thanks for checking this out, it’s an updated version of troubleshooting resources and I hoped it ends with some kind of feedback, like the diagnosis and the repair suggestions. Has it not?

But microphones are not user-replaceable so I guess you perhaps would need to send your phone for repair. Was it suggested as well?

I tested and it ends with a button to request repair… as I dont have a real issue I didnt proceed further.

It ends with “Please describe your problem” and then a “request a repair” button. So i guess there is not much else to do…

I went further and tried to open a request but i got stuck here several time from browser (firefox, then i tried chrome with the same result), then i tried from the phone app i got stuck even before that point, at the selecting device page (there seems to be an overlay that i don’t seem able to remove from within the app that block me from going further).

I guess i have to send a normal email after all, probably the form should be design better.

Anyway thanks to everyone for the help

Thanks for checking. It is a new thing, and perhaps there are still some details to be ironed out.

@SarahFP could you please have a look?

Hi Meaghan,

Pardon my late response. I am waiting for some internal input.

Thanks,

Hi Guido,

Were you able to solve this issue or are you still experiencing troubles with this?

I am still waiting for internal input.
