New FP4 not working on iD mobile network in UK ( part of the ‘3’ company).
After an hour of live chat they tell me the phone is not compatible with their network.
Phone stopped making and receiving calls two days ago !
Any advice ( yes, I know - leave them !)
Thanks
Did you test the SIM at all in another phone? Maybe it’s went wonky. I’m on EE in the UK, bought my FP4 from EE directly in 2022 and it’s been very reliable. My sister is on O2 and bought an FP4 in May 2024, so there’s no way the FP4 is not compatible with UK networks.
In settings there’s an option under the Network Settings to toggle the SIM off. I’ve never noticed this before, would it be set to ‘off’?
Thanks for the replies.
Easy decision - I’m leaving iDMobile today.
Thanks.
I’ve left iDMobile - thankfully it was a month to month contract.
They and ‘3’ network are definitely ones to avoid.
Same thing here, started some time between 20th & 25th Sept after being fine on ID for 15 months. Internet and messaging no problem but cannot place or receive calls…
My wife and I both have a FP4, and both our phones stopped connecting to the mobile network a couple days ago (also on 3 network). We get the little exclamation point on symbol. I’ve spent that time troubleshooting, reading forums, trying to find a solutipn, and this is really frustrating. Three has been great for over 9 years for us.
Not sure if it will help anyone, but something seems to have settled and our phones are staying connected to the mobile network again. Possibly issues with Three as they pulled the plug on their 3G networks? It’s scheduled to be done by the end of the year.
SOLVED - I now believe this was due to the 3G switch off that DSto mentioned.
My Solution was: settings > network and internet > SIMs > ID > enable 4G calling
I have an FP4 and am on the three network. @Bogzla when I look at those settings, the only option I have is settings > network and internet > Calls and SMS > 3UK > Use Wi-Fi calling.
There’s no mention of 4G calling, also not under settings > network and internet > SIMs. That just shows me toggles for mobile data, roaming, my app data usage, etc. No mention of “enable 4G calling”.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
@psm1 do you see this toggle?
Thank you @Bogzla. This is what I see My FP4 software is up to date. Three states they support VoLTE on the FP4, though they also say the SIM has to be in Slot 1 and my FP4 has assigned the eSim to slot 2. That feels like grasping at straws though. Any ideas?
Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate it!
Hmm I wonder if it’s the sim then… can you try it in another phone or try another sim in this one and see if it’s different?
There’s a few suggestions I found here:
Yes good idea, I’ll try that! Appreciate you following up. The link had surprisingly good information despite its woeful writing style
I tried my wife’s Three physical SIM card and sure enough, the 4G Calling option appears in the menu for her SIM. I spent 1.5 hrs on the help chat with Three and got nowhere other than a recommendation to get a physical SIM. If you can, just go to the shop and sort it out there - the chat is so slow!
I expect the physical SIM will solve it
Just to add, a physical Id mobile SIM always worked for me, until I switched away a month or two ago at least
