this started as a journey along/through issues i’d sought assistance with but might now be better in a different section? but also can’t seem to delete the post itself
device: fairphone 4
previous os: android 13
current build: android 15.14.3
keyboard: florisboard 0.5.1
summary
after updating from android 13 to 15.14.3, several system-level malfunctions appeared involving navigation controls, audio output, keyboard input, and the sound-settings overlay.
issues observed
- recents button (bottom navigation)
button press registers (vibration + colour shift) but performs no action.
neither tapping nor holding opens the app overview or contextual commands.
resolved itself after numerous restarts.
- audio output failure
complete loss of audio through both main and earpiece speakers immediately after update.
microphone continued to function normally (callers could hear clearly).
all volume levels verified high.
sound returned after numerous restarts.
- swipe typing malfunction
swipe input stopped responding shortly after other functions recovered.
started once previous issues resolved
resolved without clear cause (restarting did not influence it).
possibly related to florisboard 0.5.1.
- volume-menu overlay behaviour
while investigating the no-sound issue, noticed the volume-menu anomaly:
pressing the side volume buttons and then the three dots (bottom of the mini overlay) brings up the full volume menu.
instead of displaying all five adjustable volume levels, only the most recently changed level is shown with an arrow to expand.
tapping to expand briefly shows all five levels, then instantly collapses back to one.
captured a screen recording demonstrating the issue, though the file format isn’t supported for upload here, the supported formats i recognize are not for video
that recording did capture the music audio track that was otherwise inaudible through speakers, suggesting the problem may occur after the software audio processing stage (e.g., at speaker or output)
