FP4 display started having bubbles inside

I saw a few posts about the display falling off. Mine has not (yet). But it started having sort of air bubbles “inside” of it:

It looks like a wrongly glued screen protector, except I don’t have one.

The bubbles continued to grow for a few days and now it seems they’ve stopped. So far, they’re only in the border area, not under the active pixels. The screen works normally.

Has anyone seen this?

I’m not sure what was the cause. It started happening a few days into a hike. Temperatures nothing crazy (2-20 deg), I wore the phone in a thigh pocket or breast pocket. When it was raining, the pockets themselves sometimes got wet, but there was never any pouring of water on the phone… Not sure if a wet pocket is supposed to damage an IP44 phone.

Hi peci1,

My FP4 has just the same bubbles at the bottom of the display since at least 3 years. The display is still working fine and the bubbles don’t grow.

Thanks. Did you contact support over this?

Not yet, but I will doch so next month before the 5 year warranty ist over

I’ve had the same problem for ages. For me, it’s only at the edge too. I haven’t reported the problem yet.

I’m astonished! I’ve sent the support request for the bubbles today, and 2 hours later:

Based on the information you have provided, we will send you a display module replacement.

I even admitted I wore the phone in a wet pocket.

Hi,

I want to report my very good experience with FP support in this case.

I reported the bubbles at FP repair portal at october 8th, got confirmation mail immediately and first response one day later. With a little mail conversation and sending pictures of the FP4 I got the information today that a new display will be shipped to me

I have this problem too. They send me a new display within warranty.
