FP3+ running Android 13: all incoming calls show as "Unknown" on 4G

Hi, this problem has been around for a while but I’ve been looking for answers elsewhere, I now think it might be a Fairphone problem.

When someone calls me - regardless of whether they are in my contact list or not - their number appears as “Unknown”. Note that I am not getting a number at all, just “Unknown”. This is for all incoming calls from all people. The caller is not hiding their number - I’ve asked. This suggests I am not getting caller ID from my provider (giffgaff). I’ve tried the usual things - restarting phone, resetting and reinstalling phone app, etc, they don’t fix it.

I tried disabling 4G and caller ID works on 3G-only. So this looks like a 4G-specific problem. I’ve come across articles about this in Android 10, but not 13. Anyone have any ideas? Is this an Android problem, a Fairphone problem or a giffgaff problem?

OK, I have a partial solution by using 3G only, but that isn’t a real solution.

From what I remember, this is usually an issue between the provider and Fairphone. It would help Fairphone Support if you would let them know about the issue (if you have not done so yet). The provider information is probably most relevant for them. You can do so via an online form or via Live Chat (a text chat; note the limited office hours, only possible again tomorrow morning):
