FP3 Power Button Unresponsive

The power button of my FP3 is unresponsive in an odd way.

Power off: The power button works as expected and the phone boots

Power on: The power button does not respond at any time to short press, long press or ant combinations like for a screenshot. The only way to turn the phone off is to take out the battery and put it back in.

(At which point, the power button works as expected to boot up the phone only)

So, it seems to me that it still “works”. Just, not entirely.

You could try a #dic:factorydatareset.

I tried rebooting in Sage Mode. Would a factory reset make a difference for testing compared to that?

I’m afraid only testing will tell you.
It does seem to be software, though it might be hardware as well.
You could also try to install another OS if you feel like it, or reinstalling the Fairphone OS from scratch.
