In camera apps, the viewfinder shows an oversharp and moire-y view, especially on patterned objects. The resulting photo is fine, but it can be distracting and not realistic when looking at the preview before taking.
I’m glad it’s not just me! I’ve found the quality is marginally better (at least with no oversharpened pores) when I’m in shadow/dark room. The moment I’m in some sort of light it makes my nose look like a blackhead festival.
I installed signal on another phone today to see the quality first hand, and it was pretty shocking compared to the other Pixel 5a. Very low quality, looking like it lacked any aliasing. I’ll see if I can get screenshots again, but has anyone else experienced issues with Signal video calls too?
This was on the same wifi connection. The only benefit to Signal is that my PiP quality actually looks decent, vs Whatsapp which doesn’t
These are in-app video calls, so I guess the apps themselves? Taking photos using the camera app (or g-cam) results in photos and videos that are fine, it’s just live video calls that are resulting in tremendously low quality
