I’m looking for a new FP2 bottom module because my microphone has broken and I’m therefore no longer able to answer calls. This is quite urgent and, although the website says that refurbished bottom modules are available via Fairphone, I have had no response to my query from FP customer service in 10 days,
Please let me know if you have an available FP2 bottom module that could be shipped to the UK.
NB: If you are interested and want to send a direct message, please check #how-to-dm .
Be aware, that cross-border shipment of batteries outside a phone is virtually impossible for individuals .
Hi and welcome to the forum.
You may like to consider a repair, apparently the mic can become loose.
Maybe you, a friend or a shop can sort it, as they are in short supply.
As fairphone angel (in Berlin) I have a lot of support cases with nonfunctional microphones in the bottom modul. A lot of users have minimum the 2nd, often the 3rd bottom module. Mostly easily changed by Fairphone support in warranty.
But there is a lot of waste (I collect old faulty modules and send them back for recycling).
So my questions:
Did anyone successfully repaired the microphone inside the bottom module by soldering a new smd microphone?
What’s the reason for the highly rate of f…
How did you do that? My FP2’s microphone does not work any more. There is no waranty left, so, having not much to lose, I would like to try to repair it like you.
Currently, I’m at this point.
I don’t know how to go further.
I don’t manage to take the circuit out of its case.
Won’t I break it?
How did you do?

Is calling with a headphone a temporary solution for you?

Thanks. That’s a good idea. I will try that as a temporary solution.
