My FP5 (bought new 2023) will not load over 80% using the FP Charger and Cable. I plug in before sleeping and in the morning it is at 80% or less and i have not switched on any eco mode or the only charge 80% thingy. Also the battery drains insanely fast since a couple of weeks. All is good when charging by powerbank. It goes to 100% in jiffy. But when in use it drains so fast. And under 40 to 30% it can go to switching off without even notifying that it is below 15%. Is it time for a new battery or is it a software issue? Any others withe same problems and some solutions? I want to know if it stopps by geting a new battery, or if i will just get frustrated because i spent money for a new battery for nothing if it is an other issue.
Sounds like a dead battery to me. As the battery’s lifetime approaches its end, it can’t anymore keep the voltage up reliably when in use, which causes problems with the charging & battery level measurement. How fast does the battery deplete? Under an hour or still multiple hours? Does it do it in all circumstances?
One thing I’ve noticed is the rapid discharging with my FP4 in cold weather. The battery can drop a percentage every few seconds and the issue worsens a lot once the battery is close to dead. That might be also bad battery management from FP’s side, because I haven’t noticed similar behavior with my FP6.
If you want, you can diagnose it yourself with a battery management software (e.g AccuBattery). It’ll show you based on a few charge/discharge cycles how much capacity it estimates there’s left. If you do that, I’m curious to show what it’ll show you, so feel free to report back in that case. But I’d order a new battery anyway if the phone’s currently nigh unusable.
You could also try calibrating your battery to see if its reading is right.
My 2-year old FP5 battery also depletes fast but it’s more use depending and I haven’t noticed any drastic changes. I can easily charge it to 100 % fast (not saying that’s the healthiest way but still).
How would i do that? I mean calibrate the battery?
I follow this guide
