Tldr: Solved. Go into Bluetooth settings. Make sure the earphones are connected (put them in your ears/ open the case). Tap on the earphones in Bluetooth settings Turn off ‘LE Audio’.

Recently got a pair of Samsung galaxy buds4 pro. The earphones were regularly disconnecting and reconnecting, sound would momentarily become distorted. Sound quality generally poor. Took me 5 days to find the solution and no obvious issues online except for ‘make sure they’re charged and close to each other’. Good luck!
