Fairphone Earbuds single white LED flashing and not charging

I have a set of Fairphone Earbuds (EARB-1ZW, the older ones), and I’ve recently discovered that when plugged in to charge, the leftmost white LED on the case flashes dimly (maybe half brightness than usual), and the case does not charge. The earbuds themselves flash red and green, but otherwise work with paired devices and are at 60% charge right now. I’ve left the case with the earbuds on the charger the whole day but the situation is still the same, seems like it’s unable to charge.

Many other people have asked for the LED error codes, but seems like the manufacturer does not make this available? Does anybody from Fairphone want to comment on this, since their products are supposed to be easily repairable?

I’ve tried holding the button on the case for 5 secs but nothing happens apparently. If I disconnect the charger, the white LED is silent (dark). Any advice what to do next?

Just after writing here, I’ve tried removing the earbuds from the case and charging only the case, and now the case is charging properly. Either the earbuds had to be removed, or charging from this state takes an exorbitant amount of time (>5 hours).

It would still be useful to receive the LED codes for the earbuds, though.
