Fairphone CEO: Two new products coming out in 2026

the number of the tablet screen’s corners, obviously. hopefully it’s not the other way around.

4 GHz, 12 Gb RAM, …

Someone in the comments on Instagram mentioned 4th gen CPU and 12 Gb RAM. Which is an upgrade since the current FP6 has 3rd gen CPU and 8 Gb RAM.

12GiB RAM would be quite an unexpected choice given the astronomical DRAM price rises recently. I don’t think it would help with Fairphone’s pricing challenges.

I am certain that I am wrong, there is no market for both, but a 4" phone and a 12" tablet would be nice.

For the numbers announced it is maybe just as simple as 4th of August, 12:00…?

IMHO this kind of buzz marketing does not fit with the Fairphone spirit. This generates tons of speculations and discussions for essentially nothing, which is a waste of resources (as my current post is, granted). Fairphone, if you have a new product to present, just present it. Save money and time on nonsense marketing and put that money into improving your customer service for current devices which has been a very weak point for years. Just my 0.02$

I agree with Kilou. I don’t like all this titillating marketing, seems not in the spirit of what Fairphone is about and as mentioned there are other areas they could focus their time on more effectively.

While I may not be enthusiastic about marketing buzz, I can’t help but notice that posts like that get much more likes (so I guess more visibility).

Given Fairphone wants to increase the brand awareness, it seems to fits this purpose.

I can only reshare my previous post linking the financial report which might be a better source to analyze FP priorities

Looks 6+ with gen 4 and 12gb of RAM will come to explain 4 12.

Cobalt blue sounds nice (goes well with lime switch button), although it leaves an all-dark colour palette only. If my memory is right, the blue slim case for the FP2 was also cobalt blue.

I wonder how steep that is going to be, the only reason I would go for it myself is if it comes with 2 physical sim slots with the option to disable one of them for a esim when they become widespread.

As the extra cpu/ram would be lost on me over the 6, only the ram increase is of interest over the 3+ as android gets bloated

Esims are still quite limiting in the uk with what carriers support them, and the ability to move them around between devices

Where to buy | Fairphone displays a “Fairphone (Gen. 6+)” aside the “Fairphone (Gen. 6)”, in the list of products people might want to buy.

It looks like a big clue to me.

If that’s true, it’s even worse than expected. Product cycle reduced to one year and creating desire to buy something new. Fairphone is disassembling itself.

Unfortunately no store has it (yet)

If that is a possibility for you, degoogling may be as effective as a CPU/RAM upgrade.

Did you have a similar impression when they launched a green FP5 with smaller RAM? I was mainly skeptical about lowering RAM, not creating more options.

Who bought a FP5 and was envy about the option to have less RAM? Or intending to sell the phone to buy the version with lower specs?
That’s something completely different to offering a phone with better specs just a year later. That’s behaving like the big companies and Fairphone wanted to be different.

The FP1U came with a better chip than the FP1 First Edition. The FP3+ came with better specs than the FP3, too (including better audio output not transferrable to the FP3). Some are only satisfied when they find doom.

Maybe they could not longer get the gen3?
Let’s see the official release and how it goes through time. I just hope most replacement parts are compatible between them.
