Fairphone 6 - very brief full screen brightness flash

I experienced a very fast, flash like increase in brightness across the whole screen on my Fairphone 6. It was not tied to any specific app and happened during normal use. The flash was extremely brief, almost instantaneous. No flickering, touch issues, or other display problems before or after.

Has anyone else with a Fairphone 6 noticed something similar, possibly related to system updates or display behavior? I am trying to understand whether this is a known or general issue.

I have also had this max screen light a few times but I haven’t been able to understand if there’s a pattern.

Just brainstorming here, could it be connected with adaptive refresh settings mentioned in the last FP6 update?

It happened also before the last update.

Or it might be connected to the automatic brightness of the screen. Maybe the readings of the sensor are not measured constantly or something similar.

I had flashes a few times (every few days, very short full brightness and back to normal). I got my FP6 on Dec. 4.

I don’t think it’s tied to any action, yesterday it happened while reading, Don’t think I was scrolling when it happened. I have switched off automatic brightness yesterday and will observe what happens.

I have a FP5 with the same problem: it is as if the phone is taking my photo. It feels unsafe. It happens anywhere in multiple apps and every time I use the phone. I was thinking of either a bug or some virus?

I have adaptive brightness turned of and experience the issue too.

Which screen frequency do people use?

120 Hz

90 Hz

60 Hz

I am using 120 Hz. Will stay on it until the test with automatic brightness is done. Might then do another test with various frequencies.

Same issue here! I have had it a couple of times over the last few months.

I can’t remember if I adjusted any settings (90hz and adaptive brightness on), I am updated to the latest android version (FP6.QREL.16.48.0)

Same issue here, the flash is very disconcerting and seems to have a strong yellow/green tone, not white? Very weird, it emulates a screenshot so has me a little worried about possible malware/spyware…

Hi all, FP6, latest OS update. Experience on few occasions, but always when the phone is dimming the screen light just before switching off for timeout, a bright flashing of the screen. Display frequency 90Hz. Reduced it now to 60Hz. Everything else is normal, no cracks on display, dimming the display and night light works all fine.
