Because the phone is still “connected” with the network
So would factory resetting work, or does the network still recognize the phone as connected to it?
Would setting it in airplane mode work?
I doubt
I guess yes.
I will try it I guess. I have nothing to lose; I still don’t have much data on the phone, so nothing important to backup
I understood from other threads that you need an alternative SIM card from a different operator.
So I guess it depends on what feels like less hassle, getting a different card or a factory reset? I hope the situation improves as doing a factory reset every update/ every month feels like a lot.
Finally the updates might be on hold for some specific reason but it’s hard to see it without knowing more.
I removed the sim card and factory reset my phone and got the update!
The update is currently installing.
Before doing this, I tried one more thing that didn’t work, so I want to document it here for others to see:
I tried to go to remove the sim card, switch to airplane mode and keep WiFi on, and then go to Settings → System → Reset Options → Reset Mobile Network Settings and tried to reset the network settings. Then I restarted my phone but still got no update.
I just got an update for my Fairphone 6 with WEtell (Vodafone) SIM and now I have the August security updates.
I got the new update aswell.
Regular Vodafone DE.
Now fp just needs to keep this up and maybe get the security patches a month earlier and we are on a good track.
I returned my phone today to the store I bought it from before reading your comments, and currently back on my old iPhone 12
As mentioned in my previous comment, I got the update this morning after removing the SIM card and factory resetting the phone. I felt this was too much hassle and didn’t want to have to do that again
I guess I should have waited, but maybe I will buy it again in the future when all this uncertainty and other problems mentioned in other threads are cleared. Maybe in mid-to late 2026
I also just want to feedback that the OTA update to FP6.QREL.15.148.0 is now offered to me while being on Vodafone DE . As I’m still on FP6.QREL.15.105.0 it seems the FP6.QREL.15.122.0 will be skipped or is included in the current update.
I’ve also got an announcement for QREL.15.148.0. The phone is currently charging, it complained about the battery charge.
Still on security patch august…
FP5 and e//os are both on newer security patches than what is available for FP6.
Really hoping we get atleast the october patch next.
If not I’ll look into switching to e//os.
Now the October security update is there, and even with Vodafone ![]()
Seems that the update speed really picked up. That is good news.
Thankfully.
I came close to binning this phone.
Onto another month of hoping fp manages to deliver and more consistently…
