Over the past few months the frame of my FP5 has gradually deformed near the top, above the plastic band. The casing is starting to separate there, the back cover no longer clips shut properly, and the screen protector is lifting because it isn’t following the curve. It’s got noticeably worse over time.
The phone hasn’t been dropped or sat on. The battery looks normal - no swelling, sits flat - and the deformation is at the top rather than the middle, so I don’t think it’s the usual bloated-battery story that most threads here are about.
Has anyone seen the frame or core module deform like this without an impact? And if so, did replacing the core module fix it, or does the display assembly go with it?
I found one Reddit thread describing what looks like the same thing [link], but nothing here on the forum.
Well had I experience such pain, I would certainly have realized there was sthing wrong happening right? That’s kind of my point here: how can a phone bend so much without a noticeable force being applied on it?
As for the “front pocket being worst”, carrying his phone in the front pocket is what most people do, and I don’t see that many bent phones
yes, my men’s trousers can hold the FP5 covered with the Fair Phone cover what was available when buying the FP5 in January 2025. My FP5 isn’t bent and there is no debris or moisture in the USB port.
Yes, your mileage may vary, depending on your personal usage.
I’m pretty happy with the FP5
That’s precisely why I’ve opened the subject: if I’m the only one having this issue or if there are other cases, and more importantly if there are other users with the same issue, did they find a way to fix it
