Fairphone 5 Android 14 USB flash drive

I just got a new Fairphone 5 and upgraded straight away to Android 14. I then tried to connect my USB flash drive which I use to upload photos from my camera. The flash drive works normally on my previous FP3+ but the FP5 doesn’t seem to recognise it. Anybody else had this problem or got any suggestions about how to solve it? A dialogue box sometimes flashes up momentarily which I think asks if I want to connect automatically but it’s only visible for a fraction of a second, not long enough to respond.

Check your cable, is your Fairphone on file transfer?

Thanks for the reply. Cable works with Fairphone 3+ and yes Fairphone 5 is on file transfer.

If you use Case, try without to make sure Flash is full connected to port

Since I think it’s the mass storage capability that has issues for you I’ve checked my OTG card reader with a micro SD card and that works in A14 just like it did with A13.
But as you mention that sometimes something pops up for a fraction of a second I doubt it’s a software thing but would rather assume a faulty cable or USB connector. Does it work well when the phone is connected to a PC via USB?

Thanks for trying that it’s good to know that it’s probably not software. I’ve tested the phone connected to my PC and interestingly it seems to work well with one cable but not another. The card reader I’m trying to use has a built in cable so I can’t change that. It’s odd that it works fine with my FP3 though if it’s a faulty cable?. I’ll try to get a different card reader and see if that fixes the problem.

If card you want to read is microSD i suggest this working with FP5@A14 (and elsewhere) ok ;-)

BTW: with original Fairphone 5 case don’t fit without enlarge usb case hole, but with Tudia case work without although Tudia case usb hole is to smaller
